A Little Walk
Burfoot Park
This is a city park close to Boston Harbor with a large open field dotted with trees, picnic tables, restrooms, and well-maintained trails through the surrounding wooded area. There is also access via steps to a beach. NOTE: Special Considerations below.
Although it is within the city limits, it is far enough out of Olympia center to be a lovely place to experience nature. The trails here boast rhododendrons in the spring and Western Washington's signature lush greenery all year round.
Special Considerations: Although there is beach access, we will not do so, if there are participants for whom steps are challenging.
Additional options: Extend the day by going down the road to Boston Harbor Marina where you can rent kayaks or grab food and drink and/or hang out on the dock.
Directions:
Coming from the south on I-5, take exit 105 signed for City Center and Port of Olympia. Stay right to follow the signs for Port of Olympia. At the end of the ramp, make a right and pass under the freeway.
At the stoplight, turn left onto Plum Street. This becomes East Bay Drive and then Boston Harbor Road. Proceed six miles. Burfoot County Park will be on your left.
